5G and beyond seminar

location 40 Marshal Baghramyan Ave | 4 PM-7 PM Thursday 29 August 2019 (PKT)

Workshops

  • Where/When: NAS RA, IIAP 2:00 pm, Tuesday, 27 Aug. 2019

  • Where/When: AUA 4:00 pm, Thursday, 29 Aug. 2019

The main goal of the workshop is to engage researchers from Armenia, from National Academy of Sciences with its Institute for Informatics and Automation Problems, and AUA, and from different institutions, such as YSU, National Polytechnic University of Armenia, industry, etc. It is going to be an informal workshop, more of a brainstorming format. It could open up a discussion forum with the Armenian researchers to discover what are they working on in the context of the wireless communication and similar research areas. Certainly, this could potentially open up opportunities to participate in joint projects and collaborate in research. NAS RA, IIAP workshop link

Workshop agenda

I am inviting guest speakers to present their work related to wireless communication.

Topics:

  1. Radio access network (RAN) architectures a. Multi-tier HetNets, small cells, moving cells

  2. Emerging technologies in the physical layer (PHY) a. ULLRC (ultra-low latency and reliable communications) b. Massive MIMO c. Code-domain NOMA, power-domain NOMA, overloaded CDMA d. Novel modulation and coding schemes, waveforms e. Faster-than-Nyquits (FTN) signaling; full-duplex

  3. mm-wave and THz communications a. Channel characteristics and modeling, feasibility studies b. Initial access, beamforming, beam tracking, mobility solutions

  4. Energy efficiency a. Energy consumption models

  5. Spectrum a. Cognitive radio and dynamic spectrum access

  6. Prototype and test-bed for 5G+ technologies

  7. Machine Learning for Future Networks Including 5G a. AI, Machine learning, and data analytics for communication networks

Please share the information to your network whom you think might be interested. Anyone who is interested to present is free to choose any topic from the list or suggest his/her own. For example, I will be presenting my research which is related to the PHY (e.g., 2.c., 2.d. and 2.e.).

IEEE ComSoc chapter in Armenia

Besides this workshop, I am thinking to open up an IEEE ComSoC chapter in Armenia which only requires 12 local members. If anyone is already a member of IEEE or thinking to become a member let me know. The annual membership fee for students is very low. Please let me know if you would like to attend the workshop, or give a presentation on a topic from the list, or participate in creating an IEEE ComSoC chapter in Armenia. How to join IEEE

IEEE membership fees - i. Professional $82.50 - ii. Student member $13.50 - iii. May be eligible for discounted pricing depending upon your location.

IEEE Communication Society Membership - i. Member $16.50 - ii. Student $5.00
