How are the 'makers' renewing our city?
What is the role of art in the our evolving city? We’ve been sharing around this hot topic with art folk in Christchurch, and now it’s time to pass the mic to the makers.
We’re bringing together the city’s jewellers, ceramicists, designers, knitters, woodworkers and all those who like to get hands on and express themselves through the art of making.
Join us to hear:
Objectspace director Kim Paton walk us through her – and the gallery’s – fascination with craft and applied art
Ceramicist Cheryl Lucas shed light on the creative power of mud
Textile maven Emma Fitts tell us about the inspiration behind her colourful creations
Christchurch artist Daegan Wells walk us through his Red Zone explorations
Jane Maloney talk all things M/K Press and The Welder Collective
These influential makers (and lovers of made things) will reflect for 3 minutes each on the role of their craft to help us emerge as an art-full city. As usual, there’ll be excellent food, drinks and company.
See you all soon!
