Collective brainstorm: Where are the environmental entrepreneurs?

location Arts at the Old Fire Station | 10:30 AM-12 PM Friday 17 April 2015 (GMT)

Join Ashoka, this year's Skoll Awardee Blue Ventures - marine conservation superstars, and other innovation leaders to hack the question "Where are the environmental entrepreneurs?"

In an era where 90% of fish stocks over-exploited or fully fished, 1/3rd of all food goes to waste, and we’re on a track towards catastrophic climate change, are we simply too overwhelmed to take up the challenge and come up with #socent solutions? Or is the funding & support sector to blame? Why are environmental issues – both marine and terrestrial – so poorly represented in the social enterprise community?

What to expect? We’ve put together a list of 5 key challenges to environmental entrepreneurship, and will work in groups to unpack these challenges and share back. Then, we’ll go through a group brainstorm process to hack solutions to each challenge and have lots of time to share key insights back to the group.

Show up with an open mind, leave fired-up to take action.

See you at 10:30!

This event will bring together everyone attending Skoll and Marmalade with an interest in the environment to launch collaborations, identify the barriers to environmental entrepreneurship, and problem-solve around how we can overcome them as a sector. If you’re passionate about the need for more environmental changemakers, more impact and more environmental innovations reaching scale-up phase, join us!
