World premier of DEFIES MEASUREMENT

THE VENUE HAS CHANGED - PLEASE MAKE A NOTE OF IT!! THE EVENT WILL NOW BE TAKING PLACE AT THE NEW PARKWAY THEATER IN OAKLAND!!

SHOW UP AT 7:00 TO ORDER FOOD AND DRINKS. SHOWTIME WILL BE AT 7:30.

What happens when people who don’t have any experience in education, create the policies that affect schools?

What kind of an education will children receive when the only thing that seems to matter is how well they score on a test?

What if the most important lessons learned in school are the ones that cannot be measured?

DEFIES MEASUREMENT examines these questions and attempts to answer them. This feature length documentary film strengthens the discussion about public education by taking a much-needed, fresh, hard look at why it is so important to address the social and emotional needs of every student, and what happens when the wrong people make decisions for schools.

The film is 64 minutes and will be followed by a Q&A with the director and subjects from the film.

The Parkway cafe will be open! The New Parkway Theater sells an eclectic mix of diner-style comfort food for you to enjoy either in their cafe or while watching the movie. They feature some local vendors and endeavor to provide good-quality food at very reasonable prices. They also have twelve rotating taps with wine, beer, and cider, all from within 200 miles of Oakland.

This event is free, but if you would like to make a donation on the night of the screening, all proceeds will be used to support outreach for the film.

Space is limited so everyone in your party needs to RSVP.
