A fundraiser food walk around old Delhi
If you haven’t yet ventured around the chaotic old Delhi and experienced the delicacies it has to offer, here’s your chance. On Saturday evening, we’ll sweep the walled city sampling a wide variety of food on the way from chaats, to kebabs, to kulfis (and much more). The walk will start from Chandni Chowk Metro Station Gate No 5 and end at Chawri Bazaar Metro Station. We’ll try to skip mainstream eateries like Karim’s or the Paranthewali Gali (unless the group insists otherwise) and instead focus on the lesser known establishments that serve arguably better food.
This walk is an effort to raise funds for Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) in India. MSF helps people worldwide where the need is greatest, delivering emergency medical aid to populations in distress — in particular victims of conflict, epidemics, natural or man-made disasters, or exclusion from health care — irrespective of race, religion, creed, gender or political convictions.
To join the walk please RSVP and make a contribution on this page mentioning in the donation message that you’d like to participate in this walk. Recommended amount is ₹1000 per participant, though a larger sum will have a higher impact in the health relief efforts by the organisation. You’ll immediately receive a certificate of tax exemption under section 80G on your email. Consider this to be a tip for the guide, but more importantly it will save lives.
Your donation to MSF does not include the food expenses incurred at the walk. We will split the cost of food equally among everyone in the group — just like friends do — and it should come to about ₹500-600 per person (for a lot of food). We will limit to max 15-20 participants.
There will be lots of food, conversations, and hidden spots to be discovered. Hope to see you at the walk. Cheers!
