#HoldUp! Hacking the UK's biggest social challenges

location Arts at the Old Fire Station | 12 PM-1:30 PM Friday 17 April 2015 (GMT)

Make Sense and Ashoka are on a mission to boost the impact of social entrepreneurs by connecting them with super-creative, visionary, empathetic and community focused individuals from the #socent space, and enabling them to hack any given challenge! Come join us for a lunchtime Hold Up, where we'll be hacking some of the UK's most pressing issues:

Housing, Food Waste, Community.

What's a Hold Up?

A Hold-up is a creative workshop where you will brainstorm to help a social entrepreneur solve a key challenge of his or her social project. Hold-Ups are run by MakeSense, a worldwide movement, that challenges people around social business and helps entrepreneurs. A super simple idea: to bring social entrepreneurs together with volunteers like you and I. A super simple goal: to help them solve their problems with creative solutions.

  • Dot Dot Dot

  • FoodCycle

Volunteers reclaim surplus food that would otherwise be wasted and cook it into tasty, healthy meals for people in need. Keepin' it simple and local! FoodCycle were winners in the Ashoka / Arthur Guinness Projects 'Makers of More' competition.
