It's John's birthday and what a better way to celebrate than coming to sunny* Portland, OR and hanging out for a weekend long "unconference". There will be stuff and things to do.
Some things we could do: - Ignite-style talks (5-10 minutes, fixed duration slides) - Art - Climb fake rocks indoors - Coffee - Beer - Hike - Video Games
Benefits to attending JDC: - It's a "conference" so you can expense it - You have an excuse to visit Portland - You will learn things - It's easy to get to from the airport and train station - You can meet new people - You can say you were at the first JDC ever
Is this a real thing? > Yes, please only sign up if you're actually coming. I have no idea if I should expect 5 people or 50 so if it's the latter, I'm going to have to figure some things out.
Do I know John well enough to attend? > Actually, you don't even have to be my friend. Maybe you found this by typing random URLs in your browser until you found one that worked, in which case, I definitely want to be your friend.
Are there any rules > Glad you asked, yes. > 1. Be cool. > 2. Don>;t be not cool. > I can't imagine that there will be a problem here but it's an open invite.
* actually it may not be sunny
