Natural Language Processing

location Campus North | 6 AM-8:30 AM Wednesday 12 July 2017 (BST)

Uncovering the meaning of free text

Matthew Cranwell - a data scientist at Machine Delta based in The Core - will be exploring different ways to analyse free text using natural language processing (NLP). This will include some (basic) introduction to theory behind NLP but will focus on practical applications of a variety of common methods/approaches used within the field of NLP. Specifically, this will focus on the libraries, NLTK, Spacy, Gensim and Sci-Kit Learn.

The presentation will conclude with a walked through example from an existing publicly available data set.

You won’t need any prior experience with Natural Language Processing to get something out of this talk.

As always, the venue is provided by Campus North with the incredible Pebble and Sharpe Recruitment providing pizza from the Herb Garden.
