This month it’s the second part of Scott Walton’s (@scott_walton) introductory tutorial to Django. We’ll be carrying on learning the basics of Django by creating a simple Twitter-like website that lets us read and send user messages. Existing Python knowledge isn’t necessary. If you missed the first part we can catch you up fast with the power of git.
For those not aware of Django, it describes itself as “… a high-level Python Web framework that encourages rapid development and clean, pragmatic design. Built by experienced developers, it takes care of much of the hassle of Web development, so you can focus on writing your app without needing to reinvent the wheel. It’s free and open source.”
If you want to get a head start have a look at the instructions for installation in Scott’s GitHub repo: https://github.com/scott-w/pyne-django-tutorial.
If you are an experienced Django-naut please come a long to help others learn - particularly as we may have people trying to catch up from last month.
Pizza will be courtesy of our kind sponsors Sharpe Recruitment (@sharperecruit) and Pebble (@mypebble) - get there early to get a slice! And we once again will be hosted by the ace folks at Campus North (@campusnorthuk).
Campus North is down the hill from the Body Zone Gym and the Cornerstone Cafe on the corner of Carliol Square. Please ring the doorbell, or tweet @PythonNorthEast, to get let in.
Hope to see you there and please spread the word.
The meetup requires a minimum of 15 signed up to proceed.
