Questions, input, feedback and ideas from Enspiral for The Opportunities Party - LUNCH INCLUDED!
New Zealand faces plenty of challenges, but the following are explicitly felt by younger people (and many people at Enspiral): * Spiraling rents and house prices. * Environmental damage by past generations. * Power in the hands of big business. * Paying for Boomer’s health and super, increased risk NZ Super will be much less when they retire. * Student loan debt. * An increasingly uncertain job market.
We need change to make sure that the young people of today have the same opportunities previous generations had. Gareth would like to talk to Enspiral about TOP's plan to confront these issues and how we can reach out to young people, social entrepreneurs and social impact businesses to let them know what is possible: * A dry, warm affordable place to call home long term, regardless of whether you choose to rent or buy. * Lower income taxes means more money in your pocket. * More money for young families. * Investment in businesses that provide better jobs and incomes. * Compact, liveable cities. * Clean and clever growth. * More say over decisions that affect you. * A UBI for 18-21 year olds would cost about $1b per year and would be our first priority with any budget surplus.
